Jane Blytheabout this book: Sometimes in life we don't always get a happy ending. When deciding how to finish off the Detective Parker Bell series I had to decide whether to give the characters a happy ending, or do something a little different. I decided to go with doing something different.
Detective Parker Bell and his wife Tessa are estranged. The impact of the secrets that Tessa has kept and the secrets she continues to keep have driven a wedge between them and neither are willing to make the first move to overcome it. Then Parker gets a new case, a young woman found unconscious in the snow with no memory of who she is or how she got there. The woman, who he names Hope, appeals to him because she appears to be everything that Tessa isn't. Tessa on the other hand warns Parker that there is something suspicious about Hope and that he shouldn't, under any circumstances, let his guard down around her. Waving off Tessa's concerns as more of her usual paranoia Parker continues to grow closer to the woman. Until Tessa and a mutual friend disappear. Now Parker has to decide, is he going to side with Hope, or is he going to heed Tessa's warning and take off his blinders where Hope is concerned. Unfortunately Hope's secrets will end up costing either Tessa or Parker their life.
