Deborah J Ledfordabout this book: Crescendo stars Inola Walela, the only female Native American police officer of a small western North Carolina town. Her world spins out of control during a routine traffic stop where two people are killed and her partner clings to life. The outcome proves tragic when she is forced on leave, yet is armed with a single clue that no one believes is true: before the female passenger is struck by a car she has told Inola that her son has been kidnapped. Certain she will find the boy, she sets off on her own to discover the truth.
CRESCENDO is the final book of the Steven Hawk/Inola Walela mystery series. You don't have to start with book one, STACCATO, or even book two, SNARE--each one is a standalone story.
The entire series is set in the Great Smoky Mountains of westery North Carolina. I spent my summers growing up in that area and chose the location specifically to share it with readers.
