One March morning in 1941 Malcolm the milkman disappears and no-one knows what has happened to him. When he turns up on a bomb site, stabbed, a few days later Eve is asked to help the police to find the murderer. Everyone is baffled as to why such a harmless chap could have been treated so.
Eve soon discovers that Malcolm was not the seet, charming young man he appeared to be. She finds that there are a number of people who might wish to kill him.
Then there is another murder and a young girl is attacked. Eve is certain the crimes are connected even though the police do not want to believe it.
By careful questioning of witnesses Eve discovers the culprit and the answer is completely unexpected.
A Murder Close to Home was Number 1 on the Kindle Historical Thriller top 100 list for two weeks.
