Karen Cantwellabout this book: Soccer mom, Barbara Marr, is having a bad day. First she finds monkeys swinging in her trees. Not long after, she discovers a severed head in her neighbor's basement. For some moms, that would be enough to put them over the edge, but it's only the beginning for Barbara Marr, who manages her scary adventure by keeping her humor in tact.
I was inspired to write this book after my own neighbor told me her own monkey tale. One day, soon after moving into her house in the woods, her children came running into the house screaming and excited: there were monkeys in the trees! Sure enough, when she went outside, there were four monkeys - a mother and her baby on their roof and two others in the trees surrounding. The mystery deepened, when, after contacting authorities, a white, unmarked van drove up, and clad in bio-safety suits, climbed out, corralled the critters, and then disappeared into the night without as much as a "Thank-you, Ma'am."
Take the Monkeys and Run is entirely fiction, and entirely for the reader who craves crazy stories that make you laugh out loud. Looking for a run read? This is it.
