Raymond Boyd Dunnabout this book: This book is a sequel to Maxwell Marlowe, Private Eye. The Case of the Missing Heiress, and takes place on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.
This is a new genre for me. Previously my main genre was historical, taking place in the Queensland of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries - firstly the Palmer River gold rush, and then following the characters when they used their good fortune to establish themselves in pastoral enterprises.
I completed three novels; a trilogy, with word counts of 116,000, 163,000 and 88,000. I followed these with two short stories of 22,000 and 20,000 words; both off-shoots of the trilogy. Learning as I progress, I have revised the book a couple of times. Hopefully, this revision is worth reading.
I must admit that I charged in like a bull at a gate when I started to self-publish. I thought the scattergun effect would rack up some sales. I take more care now, and am in the process of revising every one of my books. The cover is not a professional one, and I included a beach scene from this beautiful Sunshine Coast where I live.
