Thorne Mooreabout this book: If you find your mother isn't really your mother, do you still love her, or do you hate her?
Kelly lives on a smallholding in West Wales. Vicky lives on a council estate in Lyford, near London. They have only one thing in common – they discover that the women they call mother are not their real mothers. Both want to discover the truth of their births, but they can have no idea that their lives are so closely linked.
The truth lies back in 1990, when three women in Lyford anticipated motherhood. Lindy is a homeless teenager, longing for a family. Heather, burdened with a mortgage and a sick father, is dreading the arrival of a second child. Gillian, approaching middle-age, is desperate to adopt while she still has time. There was no reason why their paths should ever cross, but they did, and the result turned their worlds upside down.
"Motherlove" follows the stories of Kelly and Vicky, alternating with the histories of Lindy, Heather and Gillian in 1990.
