Nancy S Kyme about this book: "Memory Lake, the forever friendships of summer" is a coming of age memoir-novel about surmounting physical challenges, fear, and grief by putting on a smile, pushing on, and looking up. Its working title was "Sacrifices of Joy", but since books are judged by their covers, and sacrifices are associated with vampires and witches, and joy infers cooking and sex, the publisher (Vantage Point Books) wisely chose a title more evocative of the novel's idyllic setting and its endearing characters. Readers appreciate the vintage photo inside the cover of the nine main characters. Each of these forever friends gave whole-hearted approval of early drafts and the use of their real names. "Memory Lake" is an entertaining journey between then and now, suitable for all ages. It took five years to write and two years of editing. Each word, phrase and paragraph was carefully chosen to create 432 pages of smooth, polished prose. "Memory Lake" will soon be announced winner in the "2012 Next Generation Indie Book Awards" in the Inspirational category.
