James Finsterabout this book: The Reverent Surrender is my cathartic journey through the healing process following the suicide of my father. I set out to write a "self-helper," but in the process found that I was in no way capable of telling anyone how to grieve after a loss as devastating as one I endured. In fact, through the writings I found myself examining the life lessons and experiences my father left me with, and found great solace within them. As a father of two daughters myself I needed to forgive and cast away the resentment that follows when your own father decides to call it quits in order to move on, not only for myself, but for my family.
Through comical reflection, vivid memories and the understanding that one's life is not over until their memory truly fades, while capturing the beauty of the father/son dynamic. The Reverent Surrender, embodies life-lessons and a unique look at the great tragedy that is suicide while offering hope to rise to the occasion of learning and living for those that have committed life's ultimate sin.
