about her book: When Soupy Sales died, I was inspired to write my memoirs about working with him through his fan club in Los Angeles in 1962. My reason for writing it was to give his fans some insight into the man behind the camera - the man I knew. The title reflects my purpose - to put my memories down on paper for his fans, and create a fitting tribute to his memory. The cover uses one of my favorite promotional pictures the fan club sent to members - a "wanted poster" for Soupy, tape or live. The hardest part of writing this book was being sure that all the memories I had were included. This was accomplished by referring to my journal, a collection of books spanning over 50 years. I had to go back through all my books and find all the pertinent dates and events to tell my story. From writing this book, I learned that I had more to say than I thought, and in the end, felt confident that I completed the work to my satisfaction, and hopefully, the satisfaction of his fans.

To my readers, I want to say, just enjoy and know that if you are a fan of Soupy's, you picked a wonderful person to admire. He was kind, thoughtful, and, yes, funny. It was a privilege to know him, and my desire here was for you to get to know him, too, through my memories and experiences. I hope it makes you smile, laugh, and, yes, feel sad at the end as he ages.
