Jessica Knaussabout this book: This book was written in Spain in about the year 1551, when religious fervor was at its height and the Inquisition had begun hunting down non-Christians. How strange that this story, in which a Christian and a Muslim become friends and help each other, was ever written at all, and even more so that it survived to the present day. I made an easy-to-read translation of this story into English because I think people all over the world should know and appreciate this story, a short and charming glimpse into a beautiful history that must not be forgotten.
Also available in a bilingual paperback edition, with both the original Spanish with modern spelling and the new English translation for you to enjoy and compare.
• "A beautiful love story about the power of friendship. If these characters could show such kindness to each other in spite of their differences, how much better would the world be today if we followed their example?" — Stan Coombs
