Thabo Nkomoabout this book: This book is a step-by-step blue print for creating master's thesis success. I believe that I have a unique body of knowledge that can be spun in such a way that it is of value to those seeking to complete their master's degree in communication. Certainly, people want information that's easy to understand.
Others have, of course, written books advising readers how to write a master's thesis. After reading a number of those books, I became convinced that there were gaps that needed to be filled. I knew that I could find distinguishing ideas to write about in my book that my competitors didn't address.
Here are some of the questions that I asked in the process of writing my book:
What would I elaborate upon? Well, I wanted to explore not just the process of creating a master's thesis, but the value. So, I showed how the ability to write effectively, as evidenced in a successful thesis, is a big advantage not only in communication but in many fields. It can open doors of advancement.
What would I eliminate? A huge challenge with academic writing is information overload. The poor reader has to deal with material that is not relevant, or at least, significant to his or her understanding the writer's presentation. So, I showed how the reader can develop a strategy for knowing what and where to emphasis information.
What new idea would I introduce? I showed how the most effective way to write a master's thesis is to tell a story backed up by solid research. In other words, there must be context to all that data.
How can I make the process easier to understand? Once you have decided what your story will be, you'll need a credible framework to establish your evidence. I showed the reader how to do that in 8 steps.
Finally, a note about the cover. I wanted an image that showed broad outreach to readers.
