Book: Charlie's Odyssey by Lloyd J. Guillorycategories: Book, Personal Adventure, Fiction, United States, Colorado, Character Driven, Love Story
Lloyd J. Guilloryabout this book: "Charlie's Odyssey" was born from a long standing concept about men -- in that time period -- seeking their own Manifest Destiny. To one degree or another, we all go through something akin to what Charlie goes through and can thus relate to the trials he experiences and the characters with whom he associates.
Once the plot is formed, it doesn't take very long to complete the story and arriving upon the title is usually very easy for me; I just call it what it is. The cover of "Charlie's Odyssey" is both a literal representation of what lays ahead and also a metaphor for what's in store for him.
When I write, I try to avoid flashbacks and a profusion of characters if possible and prefer to keep the story line straight. I check for geographical accuracy when necessary but much of what I write about comes from my own experience or the experience of people who were close to me. The rest is the development of the imagination.
