Jack Coullabout this book: Married to a Larrikin is the second book of a series depicting a young Australian man and his Aussie ways. This book not only explains the Aussie way but also how people can survive through the toughest of times and describing what it is like to life through the worst kinds of domestic violence.
Finding strength in places nobody could imagine. This is also a story about a man who tried his best to shield his children from the effects of domestic violence. As a result, he became a single father of two young boys aged 9 months and 2 years.
This book was extremely difficult to write. It meant bringing up memories that had long been forgotten or tried to be forgotten. It was an emotional but cathartic journey.
This is a true story of pain, suffering and soul searching. About a man trying to find his way through a destructive and abusive marriage whilst trying to stick to his beliefs and values of his upbringing. Of what he believed a good marriage and family to be.
I have achieved what I set out to do with this story and that is make readers realise they are not alone. As one reader review states:
• "I read Married to a Larrikin and I have been thinking about it a lot. You really did suffer at the hands of your wife, there were parts I couldn't even read. It brought back too many similar memories of something i went through that was very close. well done."
And another review:
• "What a clown a typical Aussie guy. His marriage surprised me so much and hit so close to home. Brought back so many memories that at times I couldn't read parts of it."
