Book: Archie The Friendly Spider - Archie Looks For A Friend by J W Paris
|4.7 stars based on the 3 most helpful Amazon reviews|
J W Parisabout this book: This is book 1 in a series based on a friendly spider called Archie. The inspiration for it came from my father who although was probably the bravest man I ever knew - was terrified of spiders!
Archie the Friendly Spider, is series of short stories that follow Archie as he seeks to make new friends and convince people that he is not a Scary spider, but is actually very sociable.
It helps of course that Archie is a Scottish spider, and by chance co-incidence (I must admit) Scottish spiders do not bite or sting; therefore making the whole concept of a friendly spider more believable for the young reader.
The fear of spiders is just one of the issues that a lot of us grow up with, that can cause all sorts of problems later in life, and so Archie on his travels encounters and overcomes a lot of issues that kids encounter every day.
The stories are intended to be short bedtime stories, to be read either by an adult, or children around the ages 5 - 9. As such they are Intended to be fun reading, with just enough drama to keep the reader's attention, but not frighten them silly!
Top 50 Amazon Reviewer J Chambers says: "The three stories are well written and include the elements that make a good children's story: humor, suspense, and just enough danger to give the story some tension without being too scary."
I could not sum it up better myself!
