Fiona Ingramabout this book: My multi award-winning middle grade adventure had quite humble beginnings. It was inspired by a family trip I made to Egypt with my mother and my two young nephews. Upon our return home I decided to write a short story that became a book that grew into an adventure series. When I began writing, the title just popped into my head, which was still filled with images and experiences of our amazing trip. This book is for young explorers and anyone (just a bit older now) who ever dreamed of saving the world.
This is what the book is about: When cousins Justin and Adam Sinclair visit Egypt with their aunt and grandmother on the trip of a lifetime, they have no idea what is in store for them. The adventure starts on the very first day when a strange peddler gives Adam three old scarabs. Later, the cousins discover the man slipped another scarab, an ancient artifact, into Adam's pocket. From that moment their lives are turned upside down as they face danger at every turn from the villainous Dr. Faisal Khalid who is out to get the scarab at any cost. Coupled with that, the boys must locate the tomb of the Scarab King in order to rescue a kidnapped archaeologist and discover the secret of the sacred scarab. Relying on just their wits and each other, the cousins discover that the end of one adventure is the beginning of another.
• "Ingram has crafted a fascinating story of adventure. Ancient Egypt is a topic that captivates most young adults, and Ingram incorporates information about Egypt's modern culture, as well as ancient legend."
