Mary Lee about this book: "When Grandma's False Teeth Fly" is about using humor to deal with bullies instead of anger. Six year old Katie learns to us humor to deal with bullies from a funny story told by her grandma. I was inspired to write this book because I had a chipped tooth in elementary school and was teased. Now as a grandma, I have false teeth which have flown a time or two. I came up with the title for this book from a time in my past when my children were in their teens and I was having an argument with my middle son. My mouth dried out and my false teeth flew out (technically speaking "dropped out"). Later, my children would occasionally remind me of this event by saying, "Remember when your false teeth flew." After becoming a grandma, I added Grandma to the title. The primary readers of my book are children under 12, however it is well-liked by parents, grandparents, teachers, librarians, and surprisingly by dentist.
