Tammy Rugglesabout this book: I love compiling quote collections. People can say so much with just a few words. Phrases that endure forever, and can actually change hearts, minds, and lives.
I've compiled quotes on a variety of subjects during my writing career, from peace, to war, to rugby. But in this book I wanted to compile quotes on a subject that I feel is a part of me, and that's the subject of Christ, who is the center of my personal faith. In doing so, it isn't my intention to offend anyone or disrespect other faiths, and these quotes don't always reflect my own beliefs. They are what they are.
Many words have been spoken about him. He's a figure that at once brings people together, and pushes them apart.
Here are sample quotes from my book:
I don't preach a social gospel; I preach the Gospel, period. The gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is concerned for the whole person. When people were hungry, Jesus didn't say, "Now is that political or social?" He said, "I feed you." Because the good news to a hungry person is bread—Bishop Desmond Tutu.
I know Jesus Christ died for my sins, and that's all I really need to know--Ann Coulter.
The moral and religious system which Jesus Christ transmitted to us is the best the world has ever seen, or can see—Benjamin Franklin.
But if you believe in Christ and that your main goal with your life is supposed to be to honor Him and do His will, then you don't have as much pressure as someone who bases all their happiness on whether they're a movie star--Victoria Jackson.
God is concerned with nations, but nations also need to be concerned with God. No nation can have a monopoly on God, but God will bless any nation whose people seek and honor His will as revealed by Christ and declared through the Holy Spirit--John Haggai.
A rule I have had for years is: to treat the Lord Jesus Christ as a personal friend. His is not a creed, a mere doctrine, but it is He Himself we have—Dwight L. Moody.
Anyone who is to find Christ must first find the church. How could anyone know where Christ is and what faith is in him unless he knew where his believers are--Martin Luther.
I am not a Christian because God changed my life; I am a Christian because of my convictions about who Jesus Christ is--Josh McDowell.
Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion; it is like a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ—Billy Graham.
We have to become saints. We have to become like Christ. Anything less is simply not enough--Anne Rice, author.
As you walk through the valley of the unknown, you will find the footprints of Jesus both in front of you and beside you—Charles Stanley.
Saving faith is an immediate relation to Christ, accepting, receiving, resting upon Him alone, for justification, sanctification, and eternal life by virtue of God's grace—Charles Spurgeon.
