Sharon Alice Geyer about this book: In this sequel to The Samson Option, Ari and Lily secretly return to Israel and hide out in an abandoned monastery in the hills of Jerusalem. They accidentally meet Professor Scott, an American archaeologist, who then helps them uncover an ancient treasure hidden in a garden in nearby Ain Karem. Lily keeps a petrified twig and two semi-precious stones from the burial cave that dates back to the time of King David. These artifacts may prove instrumental in saving Israel from a biological terrorest attack. Meanwhile, Ari continues to struggle with his duel identity and the presumed title of the Hidden Mahdi.
Doing research for this book was not hard as I lived in Ain Karem and I am familiar with all the places where the action takes place. I met and married my second husband in Israel, and as he is an archaeologist, I find I have plenty of material at my finger tips.
The concept of an orphan born in Israel becoming the Muslim messiah is an idea that has intrigued me for years. Most people in the West have never heard of the concept of the Mahdi, but he is a well know mystical figure in Shiite theology.
