Jane Jenkins Herlong

Author Jane Jenkins Herlongabout this book: Do you want to live a more peaceful life? Would you like to thrive in our changing times? Count me in!

Hey, there…my name is Jane Jenkins Herlong and I wrote a Best-Selling book, "Bury Me with My Pearls" that is filled with lots of laugh-out-loud humor laced with spiritual truths. The book was won two awards; Illumination Gold and Book of the Year for Small Christian Publishers, and I got an "F" in college composition (where is that professor…he needs to read my book)!

I will take you on an inspirational, entertaining journey using the analogy of the pearl. You will read timeless life lessons like; "Use high principled thinking, not low functioning reacting." This book is filled with biblical truths and humor. I am an international motivational humorist whose comedy is heard on Sirius XM Radio (no kidding). I am also a professional singer, recording artist and parody writer.

Although this book is very humorous, it was written after my mother and my sister died within four months of each other. I had to make years of my pain someone else's gain. I wrote this book in memory of my mother who told me a story about burying her mother with her pearls. I loved that statement and decided to write the book, "Bury Me with My Pearls." It took me twelve years to write and here is why.

We were very close and after my father died, our family fell apart. My siblings continued to expect to be enabled as my dear father did through the years just trying to help them. I had no idea this was going on until my father confided in me a year before he died. I was devastated to see greed and jealously grip my family. I became my mother's caregiver living six hours away. My mother even had to sue one of my siblings to get my father's estate in order after her trust was violated. I was stuck in an impossible situation with very unethical and ungodly behavior. It was a nightmare.

I watched my mother grieve over her children and that was the worst part for me. I also saw her keen sense of humor help her handle her pain and disappointment. The most heart-breaking event was my sister's death only months later. I believe that bitterness and hatred towards me poisoned her life. My brother continues blames me so I also address the importance of "boundaries and borders." Many folks need to learn this lesson!

Through my faith, grief therapy, prayers, the power of forgiveness plus amazing friends, the Lord has blessed my speaking, and writing.

I feel sure you too will be blessed as you read this book!
