Susanne Bellamyabout this book: White Ginger, a contemporary romance.
Doing what's right can be dangerous, especially when Arne sets out to prove the resort developer is sabotaging environmental tests to gain government approval for his project. Then Amelie drops into his life. He recognises she is his soul mate but their relationship endangers her life and dramatically increases the stakes in his David and Goliath battle.
White Ginger is the first and only title given to this novel. From the moment Amelie pulled up outside her cottage on Kauai and smelled the perfume of white ginger, it just felt right and for me, it says "Hawaii". The cover was created by my publisher, Lyrical Press and I was thrilled by the way it captures the attraction between the main characters and suggests danger at the same time.
I researched a number of elements of the setting in particular, because I believe writers have a responsibility to their readers to 'write it right'. Research fascinates me; I have no problem in getting the details accurate, just in knowing when to stop 'checking' them! I spent hours happily reading up on environmental aspects of reef management, pollution, legends, culture and reef fish of Hawaii, and more pleasurable hours watching video of Hawaiian dancing. I spent thirteen years of my younger life learning several forms of dance so this was a real buzz for me to lose myself in this gracious art form.
• Review 1(Amazon): "White Ginger delivers hot romance, danger and one of my favourite exotic locations wrapped up in a believable story that I didn't want to put down. Amalie and Arne's story will make every reader wish they were living their own adventure discovering their soul mate."
• Review 2(Goodreads): "not only a classic romance storyline, with well developed characters (I especially like the secondary characters - the little girl is gorgeous!) and the interesting social commentary related to the environment. The action is good, the dialogue realistic, and the sizzle is smoking hot!"
