Stephen Placeabout this book: This is the story of my life spent with horses. It starts with my early days in Bradford, learning to ride at the local riding school where I spent all my time especially during the school holidays. My first pony and then how I started buying and selling horses with my Dad who wanted to be a gypsy and was quite a character to international three day eventing.
This story is funny and a rollercoaster of a ride as my career developed over a lifetime. Buying and selling horses, competing them, trips to the world famous Appleby Horse fair with my dad. Liveries and the trouble they cause, joining the mounted police to eventually eventing at international level.
I have had the most wonderful life with horses, this book examines the total dedication needed to make it, the lifetime 24/7 spent working with them and how they are in fact 'a religion'.
The foreword is by my lifelong friend Oliver Townend who is one of the worlds best eventing riders of the modern age.
