Richard L. Beckerabout this book: In writing a novel, my aim is to provide my readers with an enjoyable experience and pose questions that have no easy answers. The premise or plot of Hell Beckons may 'scream' horror/thriller or even sensationalism - but a consideration of how the characters act suggests a more literary work.
Hell Beckons is a novel of an alternative history, in which a President in the decade of the 2000's turns to the supernatural and witchcraft to save his Presidency and the nation from terrorists and an ill-conceived war in the Middle East.
Yes, some conservative voters may be annoyed at parts of the premise, but I hope members of all political persuasions will turn the pages of this novel as Sandy, a beautiful witch, uses the forces at her disposal in a cascade of violence, sex, love and betrayal.
And the solutions offered by the novel - the ends but not the means - may be championed by all.
Hell Beckons is a horror novel focusing on the major issues facing the United States in both the 2000's and today; and it raises moral dilemmas that are not so easily solved.
