Jeffrey Littornoabout this book: To be honest, I am not really sure where I get the ideas for my books. Somehow they just find their way into my consciousness. Of course, the original idea changes during the writing process. With Soul Hostage, the story started as a simply a phrase. I heard something on the news about a robbery and a "sole hostage" being killed. From that simple phrase, my book grew. So much for a grand muse. I have found that my books tend to grow from a small idea which evolves and is barely recognizable by the time the final draft is produced. Thinking back over my writing process, it becomes clear that I simply write stories which I would like to read. Judging from the feedback Soul Hostage has received, most people share my enjoyment of a suspenseful tale.
At the heart of Soul Hostage is the notion that people are not entirely good or evil but rather various degrees of these characteristics and that actions dictate which of the two becomes most dominant. The individual's struggle with the benevolence and malevolence that resides within is what makes characters interesting. This inner conflict drive Soul Hostage from the first page.
