Nick Iuppa about this book: What may be hard to believe is that this book is semi-biographical. When I was a very little boy I was deathly afraid of my grandmother because she looked just like the witch in the Disney movie of Snow White. My parents actually did leave me alone with her one night and I was scared out of my mind. She did some of the thing that I describe in the book, though she didn't turn into a raging wolf, I'm pretty sure. I did marry young, attend a great university in the San Francisco area, and work in several animation studios in Hollywood. None of the characters are real of course. I've created fictional characters to populate my story and added plenty of witches. This is in some ways a sympathetic portrayal of witches especially in the middle ages, when they were persecuted mercilessly. Lots or research led me to discover some of the most horrific acts committed against them, and I recreate those scenes to help dramatize what they were up against. Taken by Witches is indeed an adult horror novel, with no holding back on the blood, guts, romance, and sex that people have come to expect from the genre. The tension builds. I employ some of the storytelling techniques I learned in Hollywood and have been told that, in the end, I've come up with a powerful and compelling story that will scare the hell out of you.
