Tammy Rugglesabout this book: I Ate the Bully is a horror comedy YA story about Ralphie Woodall, a chubby, charming nerd who's picked on at school. He has a crush on a popular girl named Carrie (who just happens to be the bully's girlfriend), and thinks she's out of reach until two things happen to change all of that: One, he is struck by lightning and brought back from the dead by his anthropologist dad; and two, she comes over to his house to study. Ralphie struggles with his zombification, and his desire to eat everyone in sight.
If you like parody movies like Shaun of the Dead, or think zombies are kind of funny and we take them way too seriously, you'll like this story.
The writer Tammy Ruggles says, "I love horror stories, and respect the horror genre very much. When I wrote as a teenager, I wrote some of the creepiest stories ever put on paper, and there was nothing funny about them, believe me. I had my siblings, cousins, and friends hiding under the covers. But I like comedy too, and there's a time and a way to combine the two. I haven't written horror stories in a long time. So this one takes me back to my roots, but with the added ingredient of comedy. Hopefully this one will make you hide and laugh at the same time."
