Robert K. Swisher Jr.about this book: For several years I worked on a 157,000 acre ranch. On the ranch is a 1,000 room Anasazi Indian ruin. The cliffs surrounding the ruin are covered with pictographs of snakes, moons, animals and people. The land is dotted with pottery shards and arrow heads. Also on the ranch can be found traces of when the Spaniards explored the west - several swords and a conquistador helmet have been found. There are also the crumbling rock walls of peasant shacks when rich Mexicans controlled the land and made both Indians and poor Mexicans their serfs. The land is now a modern ranch with a sprawling house and 10,000 head of cattle.
My novel, The Land, tells the story of each diverse group of people and how they are connected. Each generation finds a spear point and when they pick it up they see the ghosts of the people that came before them. Great reviews from Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, and the Mid-west Book review. An historic saga.
