Book: To Have and To Scold (The Sons of Johnny Hastings Book 5) by Mary Wehr

Mary Wehrabout this book: 'To Have and To Scold' was my very first historical western and I enjoyed writing it so much that two other books followed. The historical western genre reminds me of hot alpha cowboys and sassy ladies. 'Where men were men and women were glad of it.' Although, if we really think about it, I'm sure cowboys coming off the trail didn't smell all that great, but hey, we can fantasize, right?
My hero, Matthew, knew little bratty Annie since the day she was born. He carried her on his shoulders and even changed her diapers. So, it didn't come as a surprise that Annie developed a crush on the dark haired handsome cowboy. Young and immature, the only way she knew how to get his attention was to play pranks. But one day, she goes too far and he turns her over his knee. It wasn't the first spanking that he had delivered to her bottom, but it was the words that followed. He referred to her as a nuisance and never wanted to see her again.
Years passed by and Matthew can't ignore the fact that little Annie was no longer a girl, but had grown into a beautiful woman. Now it's his turn to catch her attention, but even though Annie is now a woman, she's still a brat and wants no part of Matthew Caine.
