Book: A Lawman for Maggie (The Law and Disorder Series, Book 3) by Sharon Ihle

Sharon Ihleabout this book: That old Christmas song, "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth," is in part, my inspiration for writing this book. I applied the 'what if' rule all writers live by to "All I want for Christmas" and came up with a fatherless five year old girl who wanted nothing more for Christmas than her father. From there all I needed was her mother, Maggie Hollister, a woman determined to make that wish come true, and Matt Weston, the former Texas Ranger she hires to find her daughter's negligent father, Rafe Hollister.
Only Maggie and Rafe know that they never married, and that Maggie became pregnant during a quick winter romance in the barn of her parents home. When spring came, Rafe took off for parts unknown promising to join Maggie and marry her in Prescott, Arizona Territory, where she fled to have her baby. As the book begins, Maggie has been waiting almost six years for Rafe to show up and claim her and young Holly as his own. Maggie is tired of the wait and heart-broken over her daughter's pleas, and Matt seems to be the answer to both of their dreams.
Although Matt agrees to find Rafe, clean him up, and convince him to face up to his responsibilities, he cannot deny the attraction he feels for Maggie...an attraction she feels as well. How they deal with their feelings for one another even as they are both trying to make another man fit enough to be a husband to Maggie and a father to Holly, is the crux of this story.
As with most of my other books, I traveled to the site of the story, Prescott, and got a feel for the town and more importantly, the wonderful townsfolk I found there. A lot of my writing time is devoted to research, even while I'm in the middle of a book, and it's not unusual to find my desk cluttered with the books and pamphlets I've gathered during research trips. My husband always accompanies me on these trips, so we turn them into mini-vacations as well. I hope you enjoy reading the book as much as I enjoyed researching and writing the novel.
• "Woven with humor, tenderness and conflict, A Lawman for Maggie is another of Ihle's creations bound to make you laugh and cry - sometimes simultaneously! Enjoy!"
• "...just the right dose of humor and steam... a western romance packed full of flavor!"
