Sharon Ihleabout this book: I don't know about anyone else, but when I was a child, I dreamed of being an entertainer of some sort--an actress perhaps because I absolutely loved going to the movies; or maybe a musician since I already knew how to play the piano; I could also be a singer and dancer because my mother had insisted that my sister and I take up tap dancing and ballet. It didn't really matter that neither of us could sing or dance our way out of a paper bag.
Anyway, those memories prompted my muse to come up with Miss Priscilla Stillbottom, a young woman in 1872 with aspirations of taking to the stage as a songstress. Priscilla, otherwise known as Miss Prissy was married off to a heartless man in order to pay off her father's outstanding debt. The man was so cruel on their wedding night, she ran away with only the clothes on her back and enough money to get her as far as Central City, Colorado Territory.
That is where the bawdy, fun-filled novel, WILD HEARTS begins. Prissy has to find employment immediately or starve. When she sees an advertisement on the door of a saloon seeking a singer, she can hardly believe her good fortune. Better yet, handsome Payton Cobb, owner of the saloon, hires her on the spot. Not because her singing is so good, but because her act never turns out the way it's supposed to, but satisfies the crowd with hilarity.
Payton knows that Prissy is hiding something, but he never dreams that her past in includes a husband. Throughout this story, each of their secrets are slowly revealed as their love for one another grows and Payton has the fight of his life to hang onto that love.
• "...a real work of art... wonderful characters... vivid, entertaining scenes... a keeper for sure!"
• "Bawdy, fast-paced fun!"
