Olivia Stocumabout this book: He touched the inside of her neck, feeling her pulse throbbing against his fingertips. "I wanted to spare you any embarrassment," Ronan said. "I have done too much, taken too much already."
Despite her better judgment, Triona surrendered, remembering everything about his sent, his taste, and his hands holding her against him.
She wished he didn't care about her. It would be so much easier, if he had dismissed her from the start. Then she could go on with her life.
Was there something wrong with her? Was she supposed to feel like she did, like she couldn't stand to spend another night alone?
She wished she understood herself...
Dawning took me ten years to write. I'd like to say it was my first novel and use THAT as my excuse. But the dead-honest truth is that it's my fourth novel, the other three having died silently on my hard drive. I gave birth to three babies while I was writing Dawning, and I moved three times. There's a lot of me in the characters. I'm Triona, I'm Ronan, and I'm William too. Weird how that can be possible, but it is.
I was scared to death to publish it, because I knew some people wouldn't like it (and some don't). And I knew that would be hard to accept. Since there IS so much of me in this book, it feels like a direct insult. But life moves on. All writers develop thicker skins, and we find ways to survive the ups and downs.
And so do I, survive that is. I'm still working on the thick skin. But then again, so is Ronan…
