Book Review: The Unfinished Gospel: Notes On The Quest For The Historical Jesuscategories: Book, Religion, Bible, Gospel, Christianity, Christology, Historicity, New Testament, Historical Jesus
Author: Evan Powell
Publisher: Shot Tower Books
Brand: Brand: Shot Tower Books
Best Non-fiction Book I've Ever ReadAn amazing and very readable book that makes a convincing case for an earlier dating of the Gospel of John. Powell reveals the attempt within the Gospel to differentiate John the Baptist from Jesus (for early followers), some subtle slights to Peter, a fascinating theory for where the added ending of John (Ch 21) originated, the geographical accuracy of the descriptions, a knowledge of the ways of 2nd temple Judaism, and much more. Along the way, he also debunks the Q theory. A must-read for the open-minded questing for insight into the historical Jesus.
