Mary Ann Bernalabout this book: The Briton and the Dane: Timeline is the fifth book in the series, but instead of taking place in Ninth Century Britain, the story begins in 2066. Dr. Gwyneth Franger is an expert in early medieval history who is fixated on discovering the fate of Lord Erik of Wareham who died without issue during the reign of Edward the Confessor.
Gwyneth returns to the archeological site at Wareham, the Anglo-Saxon citadel that housed Lord Erik and his ancestors. On the night of her arrival, a strange force beckons her to the hilltop fortress where she is caught up in an inexplicable anomaly and suddenly finds herself in the eleventh century, walking amongst the inhabitants of the flourishing stronghold.
Intrigue and treachery abound as contenders to the throne of England plot to take the crown upon the childless king's death. Gwyneth is determined to discover the truth while attempting to preserve the line of the noble family. However, foreknowledge of what is to come complicates her decisions as she tries not to meddle with the timeline.
This book is Gwyneth and Erik's story whereas the Gwyneth and Erik of The Briton and Dane trilogy shared the stage with too many players, and I do believe they felt cheated. I was toying with the idea of a standalone novel dedicated to Gwyneth and Erik, but what if fate had kept them apart, centuries apart? How would a twenty-first century Gwyneth fare in eleventh century England? And as the saying goes, the rest is history.
The audio book of The Briton and the Dane: Timeline is available on Audible and iTunes.

One of my favourites
a review by Elisabeth MarrionWhat I liked especially about this book this the forth and back in Time. I just love book like that. I hope it is not the end of the series. Will we meet Gwyneth again. I sure hope so. I will be interested how it will be read when it comes out as Audio book, which I am sure it will be.
Timeline was worth the time
a review by Brenda PerlinBriton and the Dane - Timeline by Mary Ann Bernal is a memorable book. I had a hard time walking away from this powerful story. I was wrapped up into the characters and the ongoing drama. I can't get enough of this series as it was a total escape. A visual story that took me away from it all.
Timeline is a powerful story that is stunning to read. The writing is so good you won't even feel as if you are reading. That has been my experience with Miss Bernal's books. They are special and I can see this series on the big screen. That would be no surprise to me.
