Angela Castilloabout this book: The Comanche Girl's Prayer is the second book in my Texas Women of Spirit series. I was inspired to write about a girl who is the friend of my main character in my first book, The River Girl's Song, because I felt like she had more of a story to tell. Soonie Eckhart, who is one-fourth Comanche but has lived in the white world her whole life, decides to go with her uncle to teach children at an illegal Comanche and Kiowa settlement in the North Texas hills. Soonie must cope with unexpected animosity from some members of the group, including a handsome young Kiowa man named Lone Warrior.
After a chance encounter in the hills with a group of dangerous men, Soonie must drawn on her faith in God and her courage to survive.
I did months of research for this book, and it's a fascinating history. It is my hope that readers will be inspired to learn more about the Comanche and Kiowa people for themselves.
