Angela Castilloabout this book: The River Girl's song is the first book in the Texas Women of Spirit series and is available on Kindle, paperback and Audible. It follows the life of Zillia Bright, who finds herself in an almost impossible situation. She must raise her infant brother and run her parent's Texas farm. With only her friends, Soonie and Wylder to help, Zillia must draw from strength she never knew she had.
Historical fiction with a hint of romance.
I did so much research for this book, because historic accuracy is very important to me. I visited a farm in Texas that has been set up with historic buildings and artifacts to resemble houses from the 1800's. This gave me such a feel for the world Zillia would experience every day. I based the book on my home town in Bastrop, Texas, so I included events that actually happened in that time period, which is from 1886-1889.
I'm a mom of three, and find it difficult to raise children in this modern day. It's amazing when you think of the obstacles caretakers of small children faced.
