Author Dr. Kathy Gruverabout this book: This book came out of my 20 + years of experience in helping people deal with pain, stress and illness. I learned very early in my massage career that many things people came to me for weren't just about a tight muscle or "sleeping wrong". It went deeper to a place of mind/body and stress-related ailments. When I faced the daunting task of writing my doctoral dissertation in 2010, I knew it had to be on mind/body techniques and how we can help ourselves more fully heal.

Conquer your Stress is heavily based on what I learned during that process and also what I was privileged enough to study at the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind/Body Medicine at Harvard.

I include so many modalities in this book for you to explore and incorporate. I make it fun and funny. I use a lot of anecdotes from my own life and from my practice. I believe that making an experience personal is a better way to teach so you'll learn a lot about me.

With it so tempting to blindly turn to drugs and surgery to fix what ails us, I believe we have to add to that, with self-care and mind/body techniques. These can help you to further your own healing and either enhance or eliminate some of the need for radical medical steps.

This book is a buffet of mind/body techniques. Not all with ring true to everyone. That's why I included so many different items. I want the reader to walk away with options. Options for the individual's healing.

Just a few of the things you will learn about are: meditation, affirmations, the placebo effect, visualization, sound healing, color healing, chakras, yoga, BEST, aromatherapy, exercise, reiki, tai chi and chi gong, auditing, herbs, EFT, NLP, autogenic training and dozens more. And you'll learn why stress isn't really the problem.

I'm very proud of this book. It was just selected as a finalist for the USA Best Book Awards and named one of the top 50 non-fiction reads of 2013.
