Stevie Woodsabout this book: My interest in history covers many periods from ancient times to more recent eras, giving so many opportunities to craft stories around. Though French history is not a favorite of mine, I do have a soft spot for the Musketeers. Probably as a result of watching different versions of movies like The Man in the Iron Mask and the obligatory The Three Musketeers over the years:)
When I decided I wanted to write something about the subject, I knew I wanted to move my story away from those well-known ones and so I chose a different monarch from the one made famous in the musketeer movies. I placed my story in the reign of his son, the famous Sun King, Louis XIV, who makes a fleeting appearance in my novella. His visit might be fleeting but the incident plays an important part in the story of my musketeers.
• Joyfully Reviewed: "CUT AND THRUST is a nice historical romance that uses the Musketeers as a backdrop"
