Aften Brook Szymanskiabout this book: Peter is the least cool kid in fourth grade, and He's Lindly's best friend. But, when Peter starts dressing like the popular Ronin Williams, Lindly's secret crush, she doesn't know what to do.
Is Peter still her friend, or is he Ronin's friend?
This book was inspired by Lindly and her resignation with being Peter's best friend.
Second graders would be the primary readers, but I hope that all elementary students would relate to the situations and reactions Lindly experiences.
It took me one month to write, nine months to revise.
The title is a play on how un-cool Peter is to begin with. He has patchy hair, glasses, and a crusty nose. When an unlikely ally helps him improve his image not only his appearance is affected.
The covers of the Lindly Brandt books are all created by me. I love to create images with fabric.
The hardest thing about writing is when you're done. Now what? Syndrome. Promoting my work is not my favorite aspect of writing, I just want to write, make a cover and start writing new things.
My favorite part of the book is how the friendships develop and change. The ways friendship are tested, doubted, and ultimately trusted.
I love Peter, he is a sweet kid who was always handsome, but no one could see his physical appeal beneath the layers of survival existence. A good friend can sometimes see the potential within and help us trust our potential. A better friend likes us all ways and doesn't abandon a us when we are more successful than them- or blame them for bringing us down.
