Edward Pettyabout this book: This short story centers on how one man cares for an ailing friend after his friend tells him that he's dying from becoming infected with HIV. It showcases to all of its readers that friendship bonds are often very strong.
I was inspired to write this short story because I'm a gay man. I struggle daily with being accepted by parents who either can't or don't want to open up their hearts to my lifestyle.
Although this short story can be read by all, the subject matter's slightly more mature. It isn't overly sexual, yet there's a romantic element to it.
The title Naked speaks more about vulnerability than it speaks about nudity. Everyone's vulnerable, and everyone wishes to express themselves while being vulnerable. Writing anything makes me vulnerable to criticism. It's fair to say that I've had my share of it. I strive to open up people's hearts and minds to acceptance and/or tolerance.
I hope my writing can be enjoyed by all. I'd want for nothing less.
