Lynne Stringerabout this book: When Madison Craig defers college to travel to Sydney, Australia, to work for a year, her adventure takes a turn for the worst when she is the victim of an armed robbery.
Once Confronted was inspired by my own experiences after I was also the victim of an armed robbery. I gave Madison similar responses to my own as she struggles with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and tries to put her life back together. I also wrote this to challenge myself through Madison's strength and courage, creating what I hope is an ultimately encouraging story.
The armed robbery I endured was 25 years ago and it still affects my life today. Most of the time I can put aside the feelings it generates but writing this book brought it close to me again and proved difficult in ways I didn't anticipate. I hope this book will inspire others who may have been through similar events to see that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
