Seamus McKennaabout this book: I have a technical background and experience in numerical analysis. Up to about five years ago I was self employed. Then the Great Financial Crisis came along and collapsed the business.
I had been trading electronically for quite a while before that and decided to go back to it full time with funds that I had saved. I was very pleasantly surprised to learn that private, retail traders, especially in Forex, now have access to some really sophisticated trading platforms, including those that allow for algorithmic trading.
I took quite a bit of time developing my own systems, and checking out others that offered an easy-street way to riches. I found out two things – (1) the quick money programmes don't work, but (2) there is a real part to be played by automation in Forex trading as an invaluable assistant to the hands-on trader.
My book contains all that I have learned, both about trading in general (risk avoidance, money management, thinking in probabilities and the psychology of trading), and about the ways in which algorithmic or automated routines can be of real assistance.
Omicron Forex is a name I picked from the Greek alphabet (Omicron is the 14th letter) because a lot of Greek letters are used for mathematics, and because most other Greek letters have already been combined with the word "Forex" in web addresses.
Writing the book and developing the routines has added immeasurably to my knowledge of Forex trading. For this reason I believe that others who want to learn how to do it will also benefit both from the book and from watching the automated routines in action - the trading platform I use has a visual historic tester which animates price action, profit and loss and equity curve development over long periods under the control of the software routines I have developed. This is fascinating all by itself.
