Wilbur McCarthy about this book: The book is about a character called Johnny the Squirrel, who lives in the Okefenokee Swamps. A wicked witch has a vendetta against Johnny's mama, Carroll, and uses a spell to kill Johnny's little brother. The only animals of the swamps who have a known cure are Johnny's grandmama and granddaddy, who live all the way across the swamp. The adventure involves Johnny and his cousin, Pogo, who set-out to retrieve the cure in time to save Johnny's brother. The book is beneficial to the reader because it gives an insight into swamp folklore. Most of Johnny's adventures involves stories I heard while growing up in the swamps. It took approximately two years to write and the title was named after the main character, Johnny the Squirrel. The hardest part of writing the book was finding time to write. I hope the book is as easy for the reader to read as it was for me to write it.
