Peter Ralphabout this book: Douglas Aspine, the main character in The CEO, is pure evil. Driven by greed and the need for sex while under stress, he crushes and destroys everyone who is unlucky enough to come in contact with him.
The CEO is one of the few books I've written where I was not slowed down by writer's block. Douglas Aspine is a combination of every bad CEO I have ever met, and one in particular. Let's say his name is Max. Anytime I felt writer's block coming on, I just closed my eyes, and asked myself, 'What would Max do?'
People who like my books predominantly enjoy business-themed white collar crime thrillers. The CEO took eighteen months to write, and much of the content is fact or fact-based. The difficult writing part was adding the fiction, and disguising the characters and places.
The first of the two following review excerpts neatly sums up The CEO.
• 'Douglas Aspine is so loathsome a creature; it can only be Schadenfreude that makes us read on in the fervent hope he gets his just desserts.' — Australian Financial Review.
• 'The CEO is a pacy business thriller reminiscent of some of John Grisham's books.' — Bookseller & Publisher.
