James E. Mutumbaabout this book: A young man, an undergraduate, carried a love postcard on the very first time he approached the woman of his heart. The card bore a striking drawing of a red flower. "This, Miss Lukiya, is to mark my long desired connection to you which is happening just now..."
"A postcard! You say it is about what?" asked the girl as she reached for it anyway. Her face sparkled with an involuntary smile, and she said shyly, "No problem, thank you."
The Fall and Rise of Lukiya's Lover is a romance novel with perspectives of love, courtship, contemporary women's heroism, and culture. The book is a story about two lovers, John Fisher and Lukiya, in a booming courtship that lasted well throughout their undergraduate days and the early post-school period. But the young man slipped all of a sudden after entering the working world. However, Lukiya's spirited character won him back and their relationship revived with a resolve that saw John Fisher in front of Lukiya's parents for the cultural mandatory introduction, the last act before marriage.
The book, apart from being literary entertaining, is a lovers' courtship classroom. Lovers can learn lessons of how to handle both their passion and the challenges on the way to marriage.
