A.J. Aaronabout this book: Reluctant Gods IV: Aysel" is a fantasy novel that focuses on the coming of age of a young goddess named Aysel—it's filled with humor, magic, and even a little romance, which makes for an entertaining and satisfying read.
As the novel opens in the 1920s, Aysel doesn't know she's a goddess—her "father," Varick, has kept her sheltered from the world to give her the pleasure of a normal human life. Of course, she has some trouble accepting that she has a range of powers, will become immortal once she goes through the seventh gate, and will eventually be in charge of a young god of her own—not to mention the distrust she feels when she learns Varick is good friends with Satan himself (to a god, being the devil is just another job…)
I would recommend "Reluctant Gods IV: Aysel" to readers who like light-hearted fantasy with a clever premise, as well as to readers who like their fantasy to be focused more on strong character development than on action-packed plots. Readers open to new viewpoints and ways of looking at the world will enjoy the fresh change and irreverent humor.
