Mary Fonvielleabout this book: I consider this book a reflection of my experiences in life - challenges I've faced, moments I've treasured, things I've observed and wondered about. To me fantasy is a genre that allows you to step out of your own world and observe it from a different perspective. When you come out at the end you see things a little differently than before. This book is also a collage of fantasy novels, movies, and games that I've enjoyed over the decade or so that I've been experiencing them. I took little details that stuck with me and rearranged and reshaped them into something that was my own. In Children of Fire and all of its sequels you'll find the familiar - elves, magic, monsters, wars - but all a little different than what you've seen prior.
Many reviews compliment my world building skills. I enjoy creating rich environments filled with history. I sometimes spend hours writing facts and concepts about my worlds that people may never read, but I believe that all authors should know their own creations inside and out. The same goes for my characters.
In Children of Fire there are a variety of characters from all backgrounds, all with their own motivations. There are magical races and ancient curses, and neither are what they seem. This book is the first glimpse of what I hope will become a story that can be counted as an epic fantasy. I hope you enjoy.
