Jan Ellen Ferriganabout this book: Lotto's Super-Awesome Unbelievable Park Adventure follows the tale of three siblings who gain strength and come back together as family after a long-lost relative takes them out of foster care and on a summer adventure that involves magical encounters in state and national parks. At each park, they get a scrambled word that is part of a message that they must unscramble at the end of the summer. Oh yeah, and there is a bad guy, a grumpy financial advisor who for silly and selfish reasons doesn't want the children to succeed at solving the message and to continue to live with their new found relative.
The inspiration to write this book came from a love of the outdoors, a passion for helping children in foster care and a great belief in the power of imagination, especially when it is mixed with personal wilderness adventures. Hopefully young readers will identify with the struggles, triumphs and jokes of the characters as they follow their travels to various parks. True facts about the natural and cultural history of the parks are interwoven into the story so the reader comes away with new knowledge and a greater appreciation of the diversity of experiences offered in state and national parks.
