Book Review: The Rising (The Lost Children of Managrail) by Aron Joice
|5 stars, 1 review|
Aron Joiceabout this book: The Rising-The Lost Children of Managrail is about a brother and sister struggling with their relationship, responsibilities thrust upon them that would crush an adult, and surviving the unfamiliar. While each searches their own conscience, they change in ways neither would have expected.
The title came to me before I started writing the first draft. I began thinking what it would be like for privileged children to be lost. Facing life and death decisions during the journey, the truth about love and sacrifice is discovered.
My primary readers are mg-tweens and the younger side of Ya. Each book in the series matures, as does the young protagonist(s). The hardest part of writing The Rising was completing the first and second draft by hand (that's another story). I also suffered a memory loss due to a vitamin deficiency and couldn't remember my characters.
I'd like to tell my readers, "Never give up on your dream, listen to your own voice, and always believe in yourself, especially when no one else does."

What a wonderful picture Aron paints with her characters and settings
a review by Athena BradyAron is a very talented author, I reviewed her book on my blog in January. I found the world she invented enchanting and the characters showed the depth of her vast and proficient imagination. This is a lady I am sure we will hear a lot about in the future. I believe is is on a par with the leading fantasy writers of today.
