Jack Speight about this book: The Bone of Evil is the first book in The Turbatus Bones series. A young adult fantasy/adventure which follows a boy, Jackson Walker, on his quest to retrieve the bones and find his parents. There are four Turbatus Bones and they will not come easily. Alone, they have the power to manipulate their holders making it difficult to pry them away. Together, they have the ability to transport their holder to a new world. But, the price to travel is steep.
Jackson, along with a cast of unusual characters, including: Jinda, the distinctly disfigured herbalist, Seven, the super-sized, philosophizing canine, Radio Flyer, the undersized, irritable dragon, Claire, the strong-willed serving girl, and Windsor, the warrior-chef, battle a cruel and all-seeing Emperor, a tribe of mad men, an obsessively self-absorbed and ambitious soldier, and to a lesser degree themselves to retrieve the bones and start their next adventure.
The short chapters and cliffhanger endings make it difficult to put down. Kirkus Review agrees, "A fast-paced novel that delivers a satisfying read."
