Y I Leeabout this book: Rat Run is a fantasy for children. I don't know where I got the title, it just popped into my head. One of those strange inspirational moments.
I used to breed and show pet rats. They were cute, interesting little characters, and were the inspiration for the book. I wrote it a good six years ago, but for some reason it was bypassed by the other books I've written.
However, I guess now is its time. I decided to re-write, edit, draw a few illustrations, and get it published.
I found writing the book, quite easy; finding a suitable cover was the hard part. However, with help from a talented friend, I believe I've cracked it.
Rat Run is a moral tale, encompassing, sacrifice, love, courage and forgiveness. It's a children's fantasy, akin to an Aesop's fable. In essence, love conquers all.
Back cover blurb.
Timere cowered in the darkness. The ground beneath the trees shook, as the monsters thundered past. Their blazing yellow eyes and angry roars sent a shiver of fear through Timere.
Scurrying to safety, he huddled under a shrub. Clutching the long grass in his paws, he held on…afraid he would be blown away by the force of the wind created by the monsters huge bodies.
Having drawn the short straw, it fell to Timere, to face the horror of the Rat Run.
Would he survive? Would he succeed in uniting all rats?
To fail meant certain death!
