Charles E. Yallowitzabout this book: Ichabod Brooks is a legend. His bravery, cunning, and strength are renowned throughout Windemere. It is said that there is no job too dangerous or impossible for this man. Bards sing praise to him in every tavern . . . and that's why this adventurer has a headache.
With his reputation preceding him, Ichabod takes on what should be a simple extermination job. He only has to enter a ruined village and clear it out of monsters. Thoughts of his wife's home-cooking and an afternoon reading to his son are already dancing in his head. Too bad this job doesn't go as planned and this living legend finds himself trapped in the City of Beasts. At least he isn't alone, but he swears that one more reminder of what the bards say about him will be all it takes make him use his new allies for bait. Just another workday for Ichabod Brooks, a man who does whatever it takes to put food on the table.
This short story is great for a quick, fun read when you have an hour. The colorful characters, exciting action, strange beasts, and chuckle-worthy humor are perfect for relaxing after a hard day. The goal of this tale is nothing more than entertainment for both the reader and the author. Unlike the big series that I'm publishing, the Ichabod Brooks stories are always going to be lighthearted and written for pure enjoyment.
